Have we ever sit down and ask ourselves theses questions: ââ¬Å"Who are we?â⬠, ââ¬Å"Why do we come to this world?â⬠, and ââ¬Å"What is the most important in our lives?â⬠All of these answers are varies according to our purpose of lives. In addition, if someone comes and asks me those questions, I will tell them my family and friends are so important to me because they are the closest people in my life. They know me better than anyone else and of course they will be there for me w hen I need them. Because of that, I make them the priority in all I do. It is easy for me to always choose my family before work or any other activities I am involved in. However, I also make time in my busy life to spend time with friends and family members. My family is the only family I have and I value them because they cannot be replaced. When I am dealing with work, school, and all the other distractions that stress my life, it is nice to escape with a group of friends and does something that is very productive such as go to eat, watch movie, or relax a little at a bar. My friends and family really help me reduce stress in life which helps me stay healthy. Then, I am very fortunate to have a good health and rarely get sick. My good health is valuable to me and I recognize the importance of living a healthy life. Being healthy, I know that I have the ability to achieve my goals, be successful, and earn the money that is needed to do everything else in life. Because of this, I strive to eat healthy foods and take a little time each day to exercise in order to keep my body and mind in shape as well as encourage people around me to do the same. Living a healthy lifestyle allows my body to easily handle working and other physical stresses that someone on an unhealthy path might struggle with. Next, my health and having a close group of friends and family has help to build my confidence. I know that I have the support and the physical ability to accomplish anything I want to do. Self-confidence is so valuable to me because someone with confidence can be a strong leader when needed and can deal with a difficult or stressful situation much easier. In addition, being confident with myself has made me stand out as better employee at work and a better student at school. In brief, life presents another challenge we have to overcome. With the right tools, it can be much easier to deal with these difficulties and stresses. My success is a result, in most part, because of my family and friends, my health, and my self-confidence. Because of these three items, I know I will have a great life, and that is why these are my most valuable possessions.

Case Study Example The Repo 108 transactions pledged 108% collateralization. At the end of the second quarter reporting period in 2008, Lehman had over $50 billion in Repo 105 transactions and about $6 billion in cash and cash equivalents. The theoretical accounting justification that this treatment as a ââ¬Å"saleâ⬠and a contract for repurchase is that the 5% extra of assets transferred is so much greater than interest for the short period that repurchase is obviously different from a pure loan. (Per the legal letter from theLinklaters law firm in London in 2001.) The crux of the E & Y argument is that SFAS 140 (adopted in 2000) in paragraph 98 states that such Repos ââ¬Å"shallâ⬠be treated as a sale. Several amendments and changes to SFAS 140 were made prior to 2007 and 2008 when the Repos became a big problem for Lehman and SFAS 160 more recently. The SEC apparently does not have sufficient confidence to charge former Lehman executives with fraud, but is further investigating E & Y. The status of SFAS 140 indicates all conditions set by the letter of the law. SFAS also violates the principles of accounting set by FASB. Many potential investors offer false promises hence altering the accounting information. Rules set in accounting often offer misleading information as it is in the case of SFAS 140. The practice aids accountants remove the temporary liabilities from company balance sheets on temporary purchasing agreements. This is because the transaction is handled as a sale instead of a liability. The controversy of SFAS 140 did not arise in 2008. The standard was under controversy for amendment reasons. The amendment was to re-examine parts of the provisions set for SFAS 140 that may offer misleading information. The issue experienced with Lehman brought about the issue of fore front. SFAS 140 is used by accountants to move assets transfer in the form of sale under certain conditions. SFAS 1140 however has many controversies since its roll out. Investigations

Followed by a good listener, effective communication skills should also be possessed by the leader which will ensure smooth flow of information and ideas among the employees. He should be result-oriented rather than goal-oriented. This will reflect in his decision taking ability. Few issues have been recognised prevailing in the Integrated Interiors Limited. The first and foremost issue is concerned with the supply chain. The unavailability and certain difficulties related to supply chain are being an important issue for the organisation. Apart from that, the antagonism and conflicts between the sales and operations departments have created another issue for the Integrated Interiors Limited. Furthermore, the sales team needs focusing and motivational activities by a leader. The absence of two Area Sales Managers (ASMs) has led to unsatisfactory results from the leadership, thus de-motivating the employees. Personnel Specification for the General Sales Manager Role Recently, it has been recognised by the Managing Director of Integrated Interiors Limited Mary Hennasey that over the past year or more due to the ill health of Fred Staples, the Marketing Director of Integrated Interiors Limited, he has not been able to focus on the sales team. The Managing Director has reviewed the annual report t hat showed a sales dip of ?20m in the year 2009-2010. However, 2010-2011 annual report showed that the sales were ?395m, most of which have come from the general commercial sector, 65% and the rest 35% from the hotel sector. The GSM, who will be appointed, should have a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from a reputed university, specialising in sales. The Whites mostly live in the areas of northern coast and are proud of preserving their culture which they have inherited from their ancestors. It must be noted that Honduras was initially part of the British Empire and later on came under the Spanish rule gradually. Garifuna people, belonging to a minority community, also live along the northern coast in harmony with many Afro-Latin Americans. There are also some people of Asian descent in Honduras and most of them are Japanese and Chinese origins. Hundreds of families can still find their origins in the with the Jewish minorities constitute the highest income groups in Honduras and are in control of politics and economy. Some sections of people have relations with families in Spain as Spain also ruled the country for a long time. But the beauty and greatness of the country is that the indigenous natives of Honduras are spread all over the country and all people live in perfect harmony. Tribal people like Chortis (Mayan descent), Payas, Pech, Tolupanes or Xicaques/Jicaques, Lencas, Sumos or Tawahkas, and Olmecas live in utter poverty as they live in far off and remote places. It seems that the Government is unable to do anything for their upliftment because of lack of budgetary funds and poor funding by the developed countries. How online newspaper reporting will influence the adjustment of Literature review
How online newspaper reporting will influence the adjustment of foreign policy in democratic and autocratic countries - Literature review Example There are two major aspects that may define the extent to which the media influence the foreign policy making process. First, the level of direct knowledge that the public has on the agenda of the foreign policy discussion determines the level of media influence on the formulation of foreign policy (Croteau & Hoynes, 1997:54). This is because; under circumstances where the public has a high level of knowledge in relation to the agenda, such as the existence of a foreign crisis that the public is aware of, such an agenda is likely to generate a high level of public opinion that demands that the policy formulators must pay attention to the views and feelings of the public, regarding the policy (Altschull, 1984:32). For example, where a country is to enter into a foreign trade agreement with other foreign nations relating to the exploitation of a countryââ¬â¢s resources, the media plays the role of informing the public, which in turn raises a public opinion that demands the ear of th e policy formulators. On the hand, where the foreign policy agenda is an issue that the public has little or no direct knowledge about, the media plays the role of publicizing the issue, so that the public becomes aware of the existence of such a policy agenda, and thus raises its opinion. Secondly, the nature of the effect that the policy agenda will directly have on the people also defines the level of media influence on the foreign policy making process (Graber, 2006:937).

Religious Education Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Religious Education - Essay Example In religious education, there are many aspects wherein the use of technology plays a very important role, maybe not the primary role but one that would further improve religious edification a long way. Just as ordinary internet surfing could seem so pointless; it can actually be utilized to serve as an avenue to propagate God's words. There are already some websites that enable Bible verse searching where in you can actually read the Bible in different versions and multilingual translations. One of these websites is the American Bible Society. In one of their homepage ads it says, 2"Bible poverty is as widespread as physical poverty". Imagine what difference it would make in society if the greater part of the youth is searching the internet for Bible verses instead of watching pornography online. Millions of websites are hosted over the World Wide Web for different operations; mostly for business and personal use some are even scams. It's amazing how we can take advantage of this tec hnology to counter many malicious undertakings by making Christian doctrines available and easy to access. If the word of God is made more visible, noticeable, and most of all, accessible, it would not merely be a book hidden in shelves inside people's houses, and surely more people would pay attention to them at the least. Another impressive Another impressive technology that is being used in religious education is the PC Bible. It is a program that can be installed in your personal computer wherein you can type either keywords or passages and it will come up with related Bible verses in selected versions. I personally use the digital King James Version in my computer and I find it really useful. This is an effective instructional material for religious studies, since running the application is fast and the screen can be displayed using an LCD or LED projector. Instead of the conventional overhead projector wherein you have to use acetate slides, the LCD (Liquid Crystal Design) projector is multimedia and can project slides in full colors and even videos. LED (Light-emitting Diode) projectors, on the other hand are more sophisticated and versatile. 3Sony has developed the world's smallest LED projector. Measuring just 410cc it is equivalent to that of two business cards and shorter than a standard ball pen. The state-of -the-art technology in these types of projectors also improves the quality of instructional media that we use for religious education. Although it is good habit to bring the actual bible, it would be practical to have a PC Bible installed in the office or school computers. It does not even have to cost, all you need is an internet connection and it can be downloaded in multiple sites. There are some materials and software that can be bought, like the 4Bible Dictionary and PC Study Bible from biblesoft.com, but a lot of sites are giving the PC Bible for free, like 5wareseeker.com or 6cnet. For advanced religious studies, the use of carbon dating is another state-of-the-art innovation. This is an amazing breakthrough which is being used mostly by Bible scholars to accurately date back some recovered artifacts, scriptures as well as objects and even places. Catherine Brahic expresses her amazement in an article upon the discovery of Solomon's mines which were confirmed

Significance of John Brown and Harpers Ferry Essay Example for Free
Significance of John Brown and Harpers Ferry Essay Since the Battle of Fort Sumpter, three months later, the first major battle during the civil war began on July 21, 1861 which was called The First Battle of Bull Run in Manassas. During this major battle, General Irvin McDowell commanded the large Union army while General Pierre G.T. Beauregard commanded the Confederate army. The Union perceived that they would make a quick and swift victory with very little loss, but it was the opposite. At the time both sides had inexperienced soldiers. When this war was happening the hundred of Manassas citizens left their homes to watch the battle unfold. Cannons and muskets would be fired all over and some misfires would end up at the civilians homes. At the start the Union was able a push the Confederates back to Henry Hill, but they would have their comeback. Beauregard make a strong defensive line controlled by General Thomas J. Jackson. Jackson held his ground successfully and gained the name Stonewall Jackson. The Confederates were able to capture Union artillery and chose to counterattack the Union soldiers. But it quickly lashed back at them when Union forces on the hill came down and broke the Confederates line of defense, forcing his complete retreat of the Bull Run. Thus this was a victory for the Union. The result of the battle left bodys riddled in the battlefield. Thousands of wasted soldiers died in that battle and was the largest and bloodiest battle during the Civil War. Other than scaring the scaring the citizens who were watching the entire battle the government was also shocked at the outcomes of this battle. Both sides came to the belief that this Civil War was going to become longer and more deadly as it goes on. From looking back at the battle one can see that it was not going to end quickly or any time soon. It became clear that it would last longer than people thought and that there was going to be more struggle. It also brought to people a clear image of what war was like. Thought the Union gained heavy losses, soldiers all across the Union gained moral for this victory and that they won. This war has also brought to the Generals attention that most of their soldiers are inexperienced and need to be trained and prepared for future battles. Politicians in the North were outraged by the high losses resulting from the battle, which gained in favor for the south and gave them hope that the Confederate army could defeat the Union.
